Chipped Evoque - More Power and Better Economy

Hi all,
I am thinking about installing a chip in to my Evoque (SD4 Dynamic Auto - 190bhp) to increase the BHP, Torque and Fuel Economy. I found a website called ChipExpress who provide a chip that can easily be installed and removed without a trace.
Has anyone used such a chip? Does it affect the 3 year warrenty that Land Rover provide for new cars? Does it make any visible difference to the performance and fuel economy based on your experience?

Thanks!

I have never had any car remapped or chipped but have read lots on forums (as much an expert as the authors then

)and the bottom line for most cars is opinion is divided.

Only yesterday did I watch a rerun of 5th gear installing a chip.
They ran the original car then chipped it, put on tyres who's silica property was supposed to reduce road friction by 15% or so, took out the cars spare tyre and jack to save weight and the car still returned less than when on the original chip.

You can bet your life if Landrover found out about it, it would effect any engine/drive chain related warranty claim.

Nice idea but not as far as i'm aware proven, despite some devotees. I remain sceptical yet want to believe! I'd love to save fuel and get extra BHP.
It is claimed that manufactures have to set the mapping wider than the extremes of UK climate so there should be scope to pull in the margins and benefit....

Personally? I wouldn't....yet

chipping works with varying degrees of success, but i'm not so sure about the untraceable part. i'm thinking it would probably have some effect on the warranty if they traced its presence, but thats something your better off taking up with your service dept., or our house jlr customer rep kelly...

Talking to my son and his mate, who is a service technician at a BMW dealership, about this.

Bottom line that to get more power out you need to get more fuel (easy) and more air (difficult) in and then get all the waste out.

BMW offer their own "chips" for the diesels. It includes:
<ul>[*]New air intake[*]New intercooler[*]New inlet manifold[*]New Exhaust[*]New Chip.[/list]So yes, about 20% more power, torque and better MPG at road legal speeds, but at a very significant cost. But no loss of warranty....

The Evoques have a Peugeot diesel. Perhaps when JLR have their own motor for 20-15 we will see this sort of performance upgrade.

But for now if you need more power buy a new RR Sport.....

OK, thanks all. I think the best thing would be to check with RR first to see what their view on it would be. I certainly think that remapping and fiddling with the engine as opposed to installing a simple chip would affect warranty. Cheers

You could try Superchips/Bluefin, their maps/chips come with a warranty.
